Widows, widowers, people living with disability, elderly and child headed families in Malaba Central Ward, Busia County have benefited from free maize seeds.
Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong kick-started the exercise at Amagoro Vocational Training Centre on Monday.
The free seeds is courtesy of the County Government of Busia through the Ward Development Fund.
Area Member of the County Assembly Bernard Papa alias Benpa said they used village elders, village administrators, chiefs and assistant chiefs to identify deserving persons.
The MCA urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the long rains which is around the corner to plant maize within prescribed time.
Last year, 400 people received free seeds.
The County Government also distributed assorted workshop tools including wheelbarrows to Amagoro VTC.
Papa said it’s his desire to offer more support to VTCs to produce youths with requisite skills.
