The Albinism Society of Kenya (ASK) has partnered with L’oreal and Beauty Point College and launched a scholarship programme.
Twenty-one students from (ASK) have been sponsored by L’oreal to train on beauty and cosmetics.
The Idea was initiated by (ASK) under Education and Economic empowerment for people living with disability.
The full sponsorship will entail hairdressing, beauty therapy, cosmetology and holistic therapy.
It will last for 0 months.
ASK Chairperson Isaac Mwaura who is also nominated Senator said the program seeks to empower ASK members to be self-reliant.
Mwaura said many people living with albinism are always secluded from society.
“We have been tortured, over 600 people with Albinism have been killed in Africa alleging parts of our bodies cure deadly diseases and are used in witchcraft,” he said.
