A security guard from Kitale is the first person to own a car in his extended family after he won a car in the Khetias supermarket “Chota na Kuchota promotion.
Richard Ang’weny was lucky to win a car worth shs 800,000.
“I participated in the promotion after I purchased goods worth sh 7,000. I was shocked after I received a phone call informing me that I had won a car “said Ang’weny.
Ang’weny who was accompanied by his wife while receiving the car said he did not believe it.
He told his wife that he thought it was a prank
“I told her that we heed to the call. It turned out to be true and we are now celebrating,” he said.
He said he is the first one in their family to own a car.
Khetias supermarket has been rewarding its customers who participated in the promotion.
The supermarket which has a chain of outlets in Kitale, Bungoma, Eldoret, Kisumu and Kakamega had budgeted for sh 10 Million in the promotion.
It said this was a way of giving back to the society though it’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
On Wednesday, Kitale customers were issued with various awards after winning in the promotion.
Other customers were awarded tickets to go for an outing in Maasai Mara Game reserve, others won motorbikes, fridges, shopping vouchers and other valuables worth thousands of shillings.
Each region with the supermarket’s outlet has been issued with a car with same awards in the promotion.
Head of marketing Fredrick Ochieng said the promotion was meant to encourage and maintain more customers to expand the business.
He said apart from the promotion, Khetias supermarket has been promoting education by sponsoring students from humble backgrounds.
Last Christmas, Kitale journalists were awarded a shs 3,000 shopping voucher each.
