Chaos and fistfights erupted at City Hall during the vetting of Chief Officer Energy and Lighting Lucky Ogutu Okudo.
The Kenya Kwanza Coalition who are the minority walked out of the vetting room to address a press conference on why the nominee should not be vetted.
Led by Waithaka MCA Antony Kiragu, the reps said Ogutu does not qualify for the position since she “violated chapter six of the constitution”.
“She is one of the people who caused chaos at the BOMAS of Kenya during the announcement of the Presidential election results on September 13, 2022. Ogutu is a gangster and a pick-pocketer. What she did at the BOMAS of Kenya is in public domain,” Kiragu said.
The Chairperson of the vetting committee, Kawangaware MCA James Njogu said they will stick to the Party position where they had resolved to reject Ogutu.
He said if the process continues-it will be an illegality.
“The nominee brought her credentials late. She brought them yesterday after the deadline so that her qualifications will not be interrogated over shortage of time,” Njogu said.
However, the vice chairperson of the Energy and ICT committee, Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai said the allegations by the Minority Party are politically instigated.
The Kenya Kwanza members walked out of the vetting room and said they will not take part in an “illegality”.
