The Cricket Kenya Board was elected into office on 26th February 2022.
This is over one year ago with the promise of revamping the game and introducing transparency in management of the sport.
The huge expectations and hope have today turned into a deep disappointment as the board under the leadership of Manoj Patel continues to breach the new constitution by ignoring the Counties which form the Council that is supposed to oversight the executive.
The board has made some absurd and extremely unpopular decisions that include appointment of people who have nothing to offer the game as well as expanding the board to bring some of their cronies.
It is obvious that the board has been avoiding to call the Council meeting out of the fear of the questions they will be forced to answer on the tainted decisions.
The one person that bears the greatest blame for the downfall of the board is the chairman who has been accused of all manner of illegal undertakings that include organizing tournaments that benefit him personally, making illegal appointments and abandoning his duties as president.
The poor performance by the Manoj led board has deeply embarrassed and disappointed the International Cricket Council and the Ministry of Sports (though some ministry officials are said to have joined the gravy train) who ushered in the new board after years of protracted wrangling.
The only recourse remaining to save the game in the country is for the Counties which form the main voting block to come together and pass a vote of no confidence on Manoj and his cronies.
