Engineer George Gachagua will be the man who will face off with Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni for the Ndaragwa Parliamentary Seat.
Gachagua whitewashed his sole rival Unicore Simon Ng’ang’a by garnering 13,830 votes against 6,149 votes.
Gachagua won in 80 per cent of all polling stations with the early lead becoming evident from the start of the counting.
Gachagua who lost to Kioni in 2017 during the Jubilee Primaries and opted to run as an Independent, has quickly risen as Deputy President William Ruto diehard ally.
The primaries have further demonstrated the power of Lower Ndaragwa votes that gave Gachagua a headstart.
He also won in Upper Ndaragwa including Kioni’s home polling stations of Upper Ndaragwa where Kioni’s supporters heavily backed Unicore in the primaries.
The Ruto wave has gripped Ndaragwa and indeed Nyandarua County and it is almost given that Gachagua has one foot in Parliament.
The Gachagua- Kioni dramatic battle will definitely capture the attention of Jubilee top brigade as a loss for Kioni would propel Gachagua to the position of “a giant killer.”
