The Ministry of Education through PS Julius Jwan has directed that all non-staff move out of the Nairobi Primary School houses.
The PS said they should vacate immediately.
This is after several complaints that the headteacher Munyao Mbondo had rented out the houses to non-staff and locked out several teachers.
Parents and some teachers at the school have petitioned the Ministry to move out the non-staff and reign in on what they called “high- handedness” by Munyao Mbondo.
They said the Head teacher has in the past transferred at least 15 teachers and influenced the hiring of his “Kamba tribesmen” at the school.
The parents also said that on the morning of 8th July, the Head teacher flew the PS to the school and took him to a tour of the school showing him the magnificent staff houses belonging to the “teachers”.
However, when contacted for comment, the PS said, “I went there without the knowledge of the head teacher. Was meeting him for the first time. Main issue is that non staff MUST move out of school houses. They are a risk to the learners considering that some of the learners are boarding,”
The PS added that he drove to the school and that no chopper was hired for him.
“The choppers I found there were military ones for… For the houses all non-staff MUST move out,” He insisted.
A court order two years ago has however stayed over the eviction until the matter is heard and determined
The PS move violates the court order which the non-staffers obtained after moving to court.
They are opposed to moving out because they have been paying rent to the NMS and the County Government of Nairobi and have also co-existed well with the pupils for many years.
