The battle for Makueni Constituency parliamentary seat is hitting up after the former chairman of Sports Kenya Fred Muteti was cleared by the UDA party to run for the seat.
Muteti was handed the UDA certificate today April 22 and vowed to roll out a well-oiled campaign to deliver the seat to the Kenya Kwanza coalition which is led by the Deputy President William Ruto.
Immediately after receiving the nomination certificate, Muteti said he will offer servant leadership to the people of Makueni Constituency in Makueni County, adding that he wants to bring a leadership with a difference.
The popular Muteti who is a close ally of the DP stands a better chance of clinching the seat bouyed by the fact that the current MP Daniel Maanzo will not be defending the seat.
Maanzo has set his eyes to capture Makueni’s senatorial seat that has been held by Mutula Kilonzo jnr.
Mutula is going for the county governor’s seat on Wiper ticket.
Muteti’s competitor in the race is former speaker of Makueni county Assembly Douglas Mbilu who is running on the Kalonzo Musyoka led Wiper party.
It will be interesting to watch the two titans battle for the seat.
