Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has announced that the Government will seal off and limit access to Marsabit forest.
The CS said the forest has been used by armed criminals and livestock rustlers as a hideout.
He was speaking on Wednesday when he met the County Security and Intelligence team in Marsabit Town.
“Such criminals will be flushed out of the forest by the multi-sectoral security team,” he said.
Kindiki instructed the officers to investigate, apprehend and prosecute all criminals behind the recent killings.
He said the Government will not entertain anyone using political, religious or ethnic persuasions to incite animosity.
The CS said several current and former political leaders in Marsabit County, as well as some religious and community leaders are under investigation.
He said Peace building structures will be reactivated to encourage the people of Marsabit County to live in harmony.
All communities and religions must be brought on board, and the process spearheaded by the County Security team-he said.
“All illegal guns in the hands of civilians must be recovered,” Kindiki said.
