Outgoing Nairobi City County Majority leader Abdi Guyo and MCAs allied to former Clerk Jacob Ngwele have reportedly planned to cause chaos at City Hall.
City reps allied to the two said Guyo was overheard saying that he is opposed the Court of Appeal ruling that reinstated Edward Gichana as the substantive clerk of the County Assembly.
On February 1st, the Appeal court reinstated Gichana after dismissing an appeal filed by Jacob Ngwele who was opposed to Gichana’s appointment as the Clerk.
On 2nd April, Gichana took over office from acing Clerk Adah Anyango.
Staff and City reps are torn between supporting Gichana and Ngwele who was bundled out.
Back-stabbing, scheming and downright malice is the order of the day at City Hall.
On 4th April, the Speaker of the County Assembly Benson Mutura asked the Staff and City res to support Gichana since the Court had ruled that he is the substantive clerk.
The Speakers message was reportedly not well received by a section of Reps allied to former Clerk Jacob Ngwele and MCA Guyo.
When reached for comment, Guyo said he was not in Nairobi.
“Do you think I have time for that?” he posed.
For the last year, Guyo has been campaigning for the Embakasi Central MP seat.
On February 16th, Ngwele led members of the Kamba community to endorse him.
However, two weeks ago, Guyo quit City politics.
He joined the race for the Isiolo Governor’s race.
Isiolo Governor Mohamed Kuti, dropped his reelection bid citing health reasons and instead endorsed Guyo as his successor.
