Health CS Mutahi Kagwe public goodwill is waning and diminishing.
Kenyans have taken to social media to criticize the CS or the sacking of Dr Joel Lutomiah, the Centre for Virus Research Director.
Others said the CS was simply playing politics whereas some read a tribal angle into it.
“His only Crime was leading a team of researchers who desperately wanted funding for reagents and protective wear. Scientists under him wanted Ksh 790Million for personnel, Equipment, and other programs. He led a team that wanted what was so basic to help deal with coronavirus, out of 790Million, 100Million was meant for additional manpower to assist in screening, vaccine ? development and diagnostics so as to boost turnaround time and delivery. 540Million for reagents and screening materials, so essential.
What did his team get? white Gumboots and when he questioned the Government’s commitment in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, he got fired.
Mutahi Kagwe’s motive? Expected Funding from America’s Centre for Disease Control and WHO. Vampires want a malleable and manipulable fellow whom they can use to siphon funds.
They want another Davy Koech at KEMRI, a cruel thug who in 2007 transferred 420Million from KEMRI accounts to his own personal accounts
That is Kenya ?? for you, a Country ruled by Bandits”
Said Businessman Dan Simiyu on facebook.
So far, KEMRI has tested 6,000 people.
“CS Mutahi Kagwe fires top Kemri researcher for delaying coronavirus test results. Kagwe says the researcher delayed results and he was expected to release them to the public…. II think the CS should allow the scientists to work scientifically not politically,” said Rooney Dan Muhuni on his facebook.
When he was appointed as CS, Kenyans were optimistic that he will steer the Health docket well.
However, the Covid -19 pandemic seems to have overshadowed everything and Kagwe has been the face of Covid-19.
On Monday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe dismissed claims that he is the only the Minister in charge of the Covid-19 insisting he oversees the whole Health Ministry as a whole.
