A section of leaders from Western Kenya have said that the 14 Kakamenga pupils may have died as a result of Satanic sacrifices.
The pupils died on Tuesday 4th February after a stampede.
At least 39 pupils were injured and hospitalized.
The school has 3,128 pupils.
On Friday during an Inter-denominational church service at Bukhungu stadium, leaders led by former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwalwe wondered why so many churches hold their services at the school.
“Why is it that so many Churches hold their services at the School. Kakamega Primary school should not be the headquarters of so many churches,” he said.
Khalwale added that these churches may be the cause of the deaths.
“You- the many churches that operate in the School, where are your headquarters? What are you doing in school? Winners Chapel killed our children twice. Senator Cleophas Malala? Don’t defend people who sacrifice our children. Don’t challenge me for questioning our churches,” he said.
Khalwalwe also criticized Governor Oparanya for saying that they had to stick to the programme and finish early so that the residents follow up on the burial arrangements of former President Moi.
Oparanya was heckled by the residents.
“They are hurrying and denying us a chance to mourn. They are supporting BBI which is going to give the Son of Kenyatta another chance to lead us. We should all oppose the BBI and ensure all Governors like Oparanya who are serving their second terms go home,” he said.
KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion accused the Ministry of Education for having failed to ensure quality assurance and standards in schools.
“If any other disaster occurs, we will close all schools until the government takes actions,” he said.
KUPPET chairman Amboko Milemba said all schools should have a safety department because most schools are time bombs.
All the leaders present called for thorough investigations and a comprehensive report on what caused the deaths.
They also called for cleansing of the school.
