Kamanene FC lifted the Hon Obiero Otare men’s soccer tournament after beating Juakali 3-1 in the finals played at Kenya Medical Training Centre Siaya Campus grounds.
The tournament was sponsored by Siaya Central Member of the County Assembly James Obiero Otare.
Kamanene goals were scored by 43-year-old Dokotolo who emulated Cameroonian legend Roger Milla who at the age of 42 became the oldest goal scorer in World Cup history by scoring against Russia in 1994 World Cup in the United States.
In the play-off match, Awelo Vaticans beat Young Pele 4-1 on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time to take third position.
Kamanene were awarded a trophy, a set of uniforms, a ball and Sh20, 000. Juakali were contented with uniforms, a ball and Sh15, 000; Awelo Vaticans received uniforms, a ball and Sh10, 000 while Young Pele got uniforms, a ball and Sh5000.
Other 10 participants including Siaya Rangers, Blue Bentos, Karapul FC, Ombwede, BAO FC, TNS, Kilimo FC, Kadenge FC, Juakali FC and Rabango FC were awarded a ball and uniforms each.
In the ladies category, Siaya Starlets were crowned champions after beating Mulaha 3-2 on penalties after the two teams battled to a scoreless draw in normal time.
Siaya Queens settled for third position after trouncing Nyadiwa 3-0 in the play-off match. Starlets were awarded a trophy, uniforms, a ball and Sh5000. Mulaha received uniforms, a ball and Sh4000; Siaya Queens and Nyandiwa took home uniforms, balls and Sh3000.
In volleyball men, Siaya stars emerged winners after winning all their round robin matches to take home uniforms and Sh5000. Siaya KMTC who took second position received jerseys and Sh4000 while Siaya Police who took third position received jerseys and Sh3000.
In the lady’s category, Siaya Stars were crowned new champions after beating Mulaha in the finals; the two teams received uniforms and Sh3000 each.
Former Embakasi East MP John Ogutu Omondi who graced the event urged each team that took part in the tournament to have under 12, under 16 and the senior teams.
“This will ensure continuity and success in football. I congratulate Otare for a well-organized tournament,” he said.
