A 22-year old Kenyan from Katelenyang’ village in Teso South Sub County was on Saturday night crowned the Miss Ateker Teso.
Miss Hellen Ajulu, who is also the Miss Ateker Teso South, beat seven other contestants to be crowned the new queen.
She took over from Alamo Winny Oprah from Uganda, who won the title last year.
Another Kenyan, Nelly Asere Opollo from Teso North was crowned First Runners Up while a physics and mathematics teacher from Uganda Dalfin Agwang took the second runners up title.
Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong who was represented by Roads Executive Okwara Ekirapa awarded Sh10, 000 to the winner, Sh7, 000 to first runners up and Sh3000 to second runners up.
Miss Ajulu, a receptionist at AIG Kenya in Westlands Nairobi said she will take modeling to the next level.
She said she will promote girl-child welfare and help end unwanted pregnancies.
Miss Opollo, a third year student at University of Nairobi pursuing Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Public Administration, Tourism and Performing Arts said she will conduct motivational talks in schools to empower the youths.
Miss Ateker is the unifying factor of the Ateker community.
