At least 100 students graduated last Wednesday in different courses at the Boma International Hospitality College (BHIC).
The College is located within the Boma Hotel Complex in Nairobi’s South C area.
The college has partnered with the Business & Hotel Management School (BHMS) from Switzerland.
Graduands are issued with two certificates from the two colleges after graduation and exposed to the International market.
Present during the ceremony were Swiss Ambassador to Kenya Ralf Heckner, Kenya Red Cross Secretary General and BIHC board director Abbas Gullet , BIHC Chair Gina Din Kariuki , BIHC Board director and former Langata MP Joash Olum together with Former Embakasi East MP John Ogutu Omondi.
Ambassador Ralf Heckner thanked the graduands for working hard.
On his part BHIC board director Joash Olum said the local tourism in Kenya isn’t doing well.
He said there is lack of awareness about different tourist sites in Kenya from the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency.
Olum also regretted that many colleges offering hospitality courses are not offering the required training to students.
He asked parents to take their children to upmarket colleges.
“The industry needs to grow. The Government should facilitate and ensure financial institutions offer loans to investors at low rates,” he said.
He added that BIHC is working to ensure that its accredited by TIVET to offer degrees.
