The Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) has launched the ‘Maadili Awards’
The Board also commissioned the Maadili Awards Committee.
The committee will oversee Maadili Awards Competition.
The competition is in partnership with the Kenya Music Producers and YouTube Content Aggregators.
The awards are meant to promote compliance with the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 and ensure that music promotes Kenya’s culture, moral values, aspirations and a way for passing positive values such as patriotism, hard work, honesty resilience and common decency.
The awards will also recognize musicians and artistes whose works inspire hope and rally communities to positive socio-economic transformation.
The competition will create public awareness on roles of KFCB while promoting clean content in music, drama, and film industry.
KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua said the award will enhance collaboration between the industry and government in the agenda of protecting children from exposure to harmful media content.
“The government in conjunction to KFCB is committed to cushion players in the creative industry. We will win the war against compromised content only by empowering future creatives and endear wholesome talent development by ensuring future content creators acquire the requisite hard and soft skills,” he said.
He added that the award aims at providing mentorship for commercialization of online content which will explicate Kenya’s moral values, culture, and national aspirations.
The programme will go a long way to ensure only clean media content is aired.
