“Namatete was a great friend. We used to go together to Mulembe night at the Carnivore restaurant and dance to sweet Luhya and specifically Bukusu music. His music was full of idioms, Bukusu sayings and he used to tell me ancient stories- a reminiscent of the good old times I spent with my Grandparents in Sanga’lo , Bungoma, before we moved to Kitale,” said Journalist Chris Wekesa from Hot News Publications.
Namatete is the last of his generation among musicians since he had institutional memory of the Bukusu culture.
He hails from Kulisiru, Sirisia , Bungoma County.
Businessman Dan Simiyu from Eden Equipments eulogized the Musician as a down to earth man.
“Its sad. We have lost a great Son of Bungoma. He had wise words whenever you spoke to him. We thank God for his life,” Simiyu said.
