Matayos Constituency is seeking partnership with County and National Governments to construct an academy to tap talents that abound in the constituency.
Addressing the press after presiding over the Matayos cultural and sports festivals at Mundika Primary School grounds on Sunday, MP Geoffrey Odanga said funds will be set aside from the NG/CDF kitty for purchase of land to construct the Academy.
” We shall then seek the support of the County and National Governments, and many players from the county who have succeeded in sporting,” he said.
Odanga said he was impressed by the level of talents displayed by teams during the festivals.
The MP thanked teachers, parents and school heads from his constituency for the excellent performance in 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
He singled out St Mary’s Mundika Secondary school, under new management, for making rapid improvement with a mean score of 4.2 up from 3.8 recorded in 2018 and sending 11 students to University.
Special recognition also went to Lwanya Girl’s for being ranked the top five in the county with a mean score of 5.6 and sending 52 students to University.
St Mary’s Burumba under Isaac Wandera as principal and Finance Executive Phaustine Barasa as BOM chair, was lauded for producing top student (Ian Otieno) from the sub county who scored an A- (Minus) of 76 points.
Other schools recognized included St Mathias Busia Boys which produced the only other A- in the sub county and sending 28 students to university.
St Paul’s Mabunge are sending 23, Busibwabo 6, Busende 5 and Buyende 1.
