Kakamega Homeboyz coach Nicholas Muyoti has revealed how his late dad Fred Babs Muyoti nurtured his talents to become a football star.
Addressing mourners during the burial of his father aged 74 at their Madende village home on Saturday, Nicholas said his dad started taking him to watch AFC Leopards matches at a tender age of five years.
“That gesture made me start liking football and it was no fluke when I joined the same club and the National team Harambee Stars; this is a hero who opened my avenues to what I am today,” he said.
Muyoti senior stamped a mark in his checkered career to become a renowned footballer taking the national scene by storm.
He was also good in Karate and boxing.
The entire Homeboyz squad and the technical bench including technical director Eric Mukuya attended the burial.
Busia Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi and Nambale Member of Parliament John Bunyasi also attended.
Others at the burial included Football Kenya Federation Busia Branch chairman Hillary Musundi , treasurer Bernard Onyango, Chief Executive Officer Ken Wafula, NEC member in charge of women football Margaret Omondi, former national under 20 team and AFC Leopards coach Vince Ombiji and former International Francis Xavier.
