Last week, 14 employees of the Nairobi County Assembly raised shs 3, 750,000 to facilitate the ouster of reinstated Clerk Edward Gichana.
Credible sources at City Hall said the cash was meant to pay lawyers and part of it to bribe judicial officials.
However, sources said efforts to bribe judicial officials were futile.
On 1st February, the Employment and Labour Relations Court declined to issue orders barring Nairobi City County Assembly Clerk Edward Gichana from office.
14 employees of the County Assembly who are allied to former Clerk Jacob Ngwele dashed to court to prevent Gichana from assuming office.
Gichana was reinstated by the Appeals Court on 1st April which threw out Ngwele’s appeal on grounds that the appeal lacked merit.
Justice Nzioki Wa Makau directed that there will be an inter parties hearing on 20th April 2022 before any other Judge of the Employment and Labour Relations Court.
The 14 employees had asked the Court to stop Gichana from executing his duties.
They are Fredrick Mwangi Macharia who reportedly contributed shs 250,000, Adah Awuor Onyango shs 500,000, and Nancy Cherono Mutai shs 250,000, Ahmed Siro Makokha shs 100,000, Christine Madarah shs 100,000, Edward Atanga and Judith Aaron shs 250,000.
