The Nairobi City County has been nominated for this year’s National Diversity and Inclusion Awards.
The National Diversity and Inclusion Awards and Recognition (DIAR) celebrates individuals, Corporates, NGOs and Government agencies that champion inclusion and equality.
The awards are organized by National Cohesion and Integration Commission and Daima Trust.
NCIC Secretary Hassan Mohammed said Nairobi has been recognized as one of the counties that have upheld inclusion and equality.
“NCIC and Daima Trust are pleased to inform you that you are one of the Counties that have been identified as being diverse and inclusive,” said Mohammed.
In a letter dated April 4, sent to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, Mohammed said the awarding ceremony will be held at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi.
“As a result, you are invited to receive recognition and award on 12th April, 2019 at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi in a black tie event that will take place from the 1800 hours to 2300 hours,” he said.
DIAR has based the award on ethnic inclusion and diversity of public institutions category on data collected by NCIC while conducting the ethnic and diversity audits of the Public Service in 2016.
The findings of the study identified several counties that complied with Section 65 of the County Government Act, 2012.
In addition, several of them were highlighted as highly diverse.
