Last week, the Daily Nation on 2nd December 2019 edition published the heretic teachings of the self-proclaimed pastor Peter Manyuru the founder pastor of the Jesus Teachings Ministry (JTM) which he started in 2005.
An astute businessman, Peter is the proprietor of two other entities: The Controversial Nairobi Aviation college and the Aviation TV.
To see Pastor Peter, one must pay a small consultation fee of Ksh. 5000!
That notwithstanding there are other prophetic tools to help the believer to break from the snare of the Devil.
The tools include a pen and a pencil @50/- and an adhesive sticker with inscriptions “JTM Ministries”.
The sticker should be stuck on one’s bed to wade off evil spirits!
There are assorted types of anointing oil all with a price tag and each type offering specified ministration to the user.
With Ksh 500, one dedicates themselves to the pastor.
With a Ksh. 1000 you present your vision and with Ksh.500 you dedicate both.
This Pastor is minting millions of shillings from unsuspecting congregants.
It is on the background of these heretic teachings that we are calling upon the believers in Christ to imitate their counterparts in Berea (Acts 17: 11-12).
The Bereans were commended for their eagle hawked eye on the Scriptures.
False teachers are not only propagating heresy, but they are selling the same to the gullible believers.
Pastor Peter is one in a million who have been exposed.
Going by the current socio-economic times, anybody who purports to have tangible answers to these challenges is welcome.
People are not so much interested with a harmonious up close and candid walk with Christ, they are after the “Christ” who will solve their problems instantly.
Quack pastors are not interested in sound gospel, hence anointing oil can be sold to the highest bidder even though there is not a single Bible verse that supports the commercialization of the gifts of the Spirit.
Curiously, Pastor Peter pays little attention to the congregation on Sundays as the queues to see him are extremely long.
This is the reason why there is a charge of Ksh. 5000 to see the pastor and hopefully receive special attention on a day other than Sunday.
Jesus taught; “Freely you have received, free you give” (Matt.10:8).
Procedurally, the pastor should be remunerated from the church coffers not by the worshipers but by the leadership of the church as per the terms of the said remuneration.
Hundreds of people continue being misled by Pastor Peter and his ilk due to lack of exposure to scripture.
The question is why are Kenyans (and Africans in general) spirituality gullible?
Religion has been said by Karl Marx to be the opium of the poor; economically and spiritually.
The quack Pastors sell hope to desperate people.
They make people think that all their problems can be solved spiritually.
In the context of poverty and decease, blessings and success have been overrated.
The followers center their lives on the word of the pastor without question.
In the name of getting blessings, they give their meager resources to sustain the lifestyle of the pastor.
How blind can people be? The same lies used in witchcraft are the same used in some of these churches and ministries.
Reason is subdued and emotion enhanced.
On one hand, we encourage the congregation to consult the clergy on matters touching on doctrines.
On the other hand, we also discourage believers from attending Bible studies or other Bible exposition forums which they are not sure of.
Always be alert on what you are feeding your mind with lest you be trapped by the snares of the Devil.
Be on your guard for the Devil masquerades as an angel of the light (2Cor.11:14).
