The family of former Attorney General Charles Njonjo has dismissed rumors he is dead.
On Saturday evening, Social media was awash with reports that Njonjo had died.
Several people including very reputable members of the society went ahead and posted pictures and posts saying Njonjo had died.
Elder Mark Baraza posted a picture and a post that he picked on facebook that Njonjo had died.
The post was in a leading whats app group in Western Kenya “Western Union”
“I feel truly awful. I posted comments an hour ago about my dear friend Mr Charles Njonjo and his passing an hour ago. It seems that I was totally wrong. It’s pointless to state that numerous new sites and others etc carried the news, I should have checked further. I feel very ashamed and offer sincerest apologies to all who were misled by my post.” Former Raila Odinga’s Spokesman Salim Lone apologized.
On Saturday evening, reports indicated that Njonjo had died in the evening.
According to Wikipedia, Sir Charles Mugane Njonjo is a former Attorney General of Kenya, and Minister of Constitutional Affairs.
Charles Njonjo is popularly referred to as “The Duke of Kabeteshire”.
He was born on January 1920 (aged 101 years) in Kabete, Kiambu.
He married Margaret Bryson in 1972.
His father was Josiah Njonjo.
Njonjo’s children are Wairimu Njonjo and Nimu Njonjo.
His siblings are Emma Njonjo.
He studied at University of FortHare and is an alumnus of Alliance High School.
He was Minister of Justice of Kenya (1978–1982), Attorney General of Kenya (1963–1973).
He is famed for his stripped suits.
Njonjo got married at 52 years.
