The Professional Criminologists Association of Kenya (PCAK) is committed to upholding professionalism in criminology and fighting crime countrywide.
The Association’s founding chairman Munene Mugambi has said.
Mugambi spoke on Saturday during the Inaugural General Assembly held at a Nairobi Hotel.
He said establishment of PCAK has placed its members at the same level with other professionals.
He said the Association will contribute in decision making in security matters.
“Security, safety and behavioral reform will be under our purview unlike in the past. Such matters were presented by other professionals who lack criminology background and ended up making inaccurate and uninformed contributions towards our profession.” Mugambi said.
Close to two hundred members were awarded with certificates and medals.
According to Mugambi the association is the first of its kind in the region to recognize its members in such a manner.
Members are drawn from various fields including crime prevention, Independent Policing Oversight Authority, Forensics and Medico-legal practitioners, Crime Detection and investigation, law enforcement among others.

He also appealed for support from well-wishers.
“We can only attract partners when we uphold high standards of integrity.” The lawyer said.
He added that discussions are at an advanced level in drafting a code of conduct for criminologists.
PCAK local patron Malkit Singh urged members to support the association’s leadership to ensure smooth operations.
PCAK’s motto is Crime must fall.
