Senate speaker Ken Lusaka on Wednesday assured Kenyans the Senate will get a solution on revenue sharing formula.
Addressing mourners during the funeral service of Florence Khaemba, wife to university Don Battany Khaemba, Lusaka said the Senate leadership has organized for a meeting that will come up with a good formula on sharing county funds.
“Some Senators are proposing that the revenue be allocated basing on the population in the counties. Others want the allocation based on geographical area. However, I urge counties and Kenyans to be patient as we work out this “he said.
Senators on Tuesday failed to come up with the formula on how counties will share the allocated money.
The third-generation formula which is supported by the President proposes that the money be shared according to the population in counties- a proposal that was presented by chief whip Irungu Kang’ata.
The funeral service was also attended by area MP Chris Wamalwa, women representative Janet Nangabo and St Peters Mumias principal Cosmas Nabungolo who is also Kiminini constituency aspiring MP.
Wamalwa termed Florence as a renowned banker whose services will be missed.
He asked residents to pray for him in his quest to succeed Governor Patrick Khaemba as area Governor.
