A man who caused uproar in September 2017 after being caught with different identity cards of top jobs is now claiming to be an “anti corruption crusader”
The man, whose true identity is not known, still identifies himself as Gordwins O. Agutu in all the three staff IDs.
He calls himself Dr .G.O.M Agutu.
In September 2017, he was arrested at Kiboro School in Kayole Division, as members of the public he allegedly duped pounced on him.
According to Nairobi News, the man was pictured in a Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) staff ID as holding the position of Assistant Commissioner Domestic Tax Surveillance.
Nairobi News reported that he was also pictured in a Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board staff ID as holding the position of Pharmavigilance and Survailance.
Another Kenya Police staff ID showed him as holding the rank of a Senior Superintendent of Police (sic) in the Criminal Investigation Department.
Never mind that the Criminal Investigations Department he purports to be working for changed its name to Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
Nairobi news revealed then.
It was not clear then whether he used the staff IDs to gain access to the three organizations.
In 2017, detectives from KRA interrogated him to establish how he acquired the staff cards.
Sources at KRA said the authority had written to the DCI and the Central Bank, requesting for investigations into all transactions that had been done by the impostor.
The then Kayole OCPD Joseph Gichangi confirmed the man had been arrested and that investigations were underway.
“Once we are done with the investigations and complainants have given us information about him, we will arraign him in court,” Mr Gichangi said then.
Since then, little has come from investigating agencies on the progress they made.
The man has written several letters to the EACC, DCI and other investigative agencies asking them to take action against several senior parastatal heads after he alleged they engaged in corruption.
Agutu has written to the EACC and DCI claiming that Mrs Dorcas Wainaina the CEO of IHRM should be investigated for abuse of office.
He also wants several senior officers at the Anti Counterfeit Agency investigated for corruption.
