Immediate former UNCTAD secretary General Mukhisa Kituyi on Saturday said his journey to State House is unstoppable.
Addressing a homecoming rally in Mbakalao, his home area, Mukhisa told the crowd about his poor and humble background.
He talked of how he went to school barefoot and struggled through life.
He said Kenyan politicians have become a disgrace to the International community where they insult one another.
“You won’t see me insult people at burials. Its bad manners to politic at funerals when the family is mourning and the casket bearing the remains of the dead is In front of you,” he said.
He said political leaders from the Luhya nation have set a bad example by insulting one another in burials and other leaders from other regions follow suit.
“This issue of being told the bus has left the station and you must join should end. Is it your (mothers) sic bus” he said?
As he spoke, the charged crowd shouted…. “Speak to us Mwana wa Joina”
He said when he joined UNCTAD, Kenyans asked him not to be a disgrace.
He added that he has done a good job at UNCTAD and asked Kenyans to elect him as the next president.
“I will follow into Masinde Muliro’s footsteps. We must end politics of kitu kidogo. I have travelled in 119 countries and what I learnt is that you have to get political power to get rid of poverty in society,” he said.
He asked the Luhya nation to believe and prayed to God to lead the community to “State House”.
Without naming names, he castigated several leaders from Western including Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula whom he said do not share “Masinde Muliro’s vision”.
“Believe in yourself, the women and mothers who gave birth to current leaders are also the same who gave birth to you,” he told the cheering crowd.
“We are going to bring the Obama kind of politics in Kenya. I son of Joina and Jamin- I am going to do it,” Mukhisa said.
He added that currently, politics in Kenya are driven by the William Ruto camp on one hand and Raila Odinga, Uhuru Kenyatta faction on the other.
Mukhisa said one must coalesce with either camp to succeed.
“You look for them to be relevant. You do not look for an endorsement. I do not need to be endorsed by any leader. The problem is that some intelligent people allow the less intelligent people to interpret the truth for them,” he said.
Mukhisa also paid tribute to his late Son Makari Kituyi who died five years ago.
He said he has come of age, is a grandfather to Makari’s kids and that next year, Makari’s son will be initiated according to the Bukusu culture.
“Walialua will ring bells (Chinyimba) and be circumcised. On Monday, I will hold talks with Bukusu and Tachomi elders and will go to Busia for the elders to endorse me,” he said.
He wondered why Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula are trembling after he re-joined the Kenyan politics.
He said he is the right candidate to Unite the Luhyia community and Kenyans at large.
Mukhisa added that leaders from Western Kenya have been trooping to DP William Ruto’s camp because of a power vacuum.
“When they come back home, don’t abuse them and insult them that they have been going to Sugoi. Please welcome them back because there was a power vacuum and I am going to take care of them,” he said.
Makueni’s Governor Kivutha Kibwana and Professor Peter Kagwanja attended the homecoming ceremony.
