Kakamaega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has clarified that he did not attend the Mashujaa day fete with his two wives.
Oparanya told Hot News that he was received by “Protocol officers” from the Council of Governors.
A picture of Oparanya walking to his seat in the company of two women has been trending.
Social Media was awash with reports that the Governor was flanked by his two wives when he attended the celebrations in Kisii Town.
“Long live Polygamy,” Journalist Geoffrey Mosoku posted the Governors picture with the two women on his Facebook page.
“Kakamemga Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya with his two wives in Gusii Stadium. Ladies learn something from these two. Do not hate your co-wife, these are true heroes” Renson Waliaula Mauka said on facebook.
Other social media users praised the Governor for the bold move of having two wives.
Others went on to praise “Oparanya’s wives” for the unity.
Others said Oparanya is married to four wives.
However, in his response to Hot News, Oparanya did not say how many wives he has and kept his family affairs to himself.
“Those are protocol officers from CoG,” he said.
