Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has asked Nairobi Women rep Esther Passaris to respect men and “peoples husbands”.
Speaking on Citizen TV show JKL live, Sonko said Passaris at one time invited him into a private room at Hotel Intercontinental that she had booked.
“She should know that I am somebody’s husband. She should know that I am a father to women. Passaris wants to paint a picture that I disrespect women but that’s not the case,” he told Jeff Koinange.
Sonko said he fell out with Passaris after she was allegedly paid shs 1million by state operatives who are opposed to Sonko’s style of operation to discredit him.
He said Passaris has been demanding money from the County government of Nairobi in the name of per diems whenever she travels outside the country yet her allowances are paid by the National Assembly.
Sonko added that Passaris has been extorting money from him through Raila Odinga’s name yet Raila does not take money from politicians.
“I have refused to pay her shs 400,000 illegal per diems to her. I will not pay,” he said.
The Governor said Passaris accused him during Madaraka Day celebrations that he does not pick her calls and that he is dishing out ill gotten money.
Sonko said he has a right to reply to Passaris remarks and that he did so during the Madaraka day event in Pumwani.
However, Passaris got angry and walked away.
Sonko said he funded Passaris campaigns during the last elections.
In an undated video clip circulating online, a woman believed to be Passaris is heard pleading with Sonko to help him with campaign cash.
The woman goes ahead to mention that one Puis Ngugi is not funding her and that M r Ngugi will like to meet Sonko.
Sonko asks Passaris to take Mr Ngugi to him.
During the interview, Sonko said Passaris kept on extorting money from him and that she took shs 10 million from him in order to pay petiotner Japheth Muroko who had filed a case challenging his win as Governor.
Sonko said Passaris never remitted the cash to Japheth Muroko and his colleague.
In January 2018, Justice Msagha Mbogholi dismissed the petition after petitioners Japheth Muroko and Zacheus Okoth told the court they were not interested to prosecute it.
During the heated show, Sonko complained that Jeff Koinange was not giving him time to respond to all allegations leveled against him by Passaris.
When the two took a short break, the show did not resume and was canceled after Citizen TV said the show was not upholding its ‘standards’.
Sonko handed Jeff Koinange several documents including copies of travel tickets that the County Government of Nairobi had paid for Passaris New York trip.
Other documents included what Sonko said were copies of Passari invoices demanding per diems.
Before the Cameras punned away, Jeff Koinange was seen throwing away the documents and seemed to careless.
Social media is awash with different reasons as to why the Show was cancelled.

Mr. Jeff Koinange: It’s unethical to invite a guest for an interview then terminate the interview because of some dubious “editorial” and “quality control.” Mr. Mike Sonko. Came prepared with audiotapes, videotapes, receipts, vouchers and seemed able to prove each and every allegation he made against Passaris.
The Citizen TV Kenya clearly terminated the interview because you could not ensnare him.
This is my take home from the aborted interview: 1) Passaris’ campaign was funded by Jubilee Party via Mike Sonko. 2) Passaris extorted Mike Sonko. of tens of millions of shillings. 3) Passaris committed FRAUD through double Per Diems, air tickets and other payments.
We cannot fight against and eliminate grand corruption (theft of public resources), abuse of public office and the culture of impunity by burins our heads in the sand and concealing material evidence against crooks like Passaris! Period! #JKLive
