ODM Leader Raila Odinga and his party have lost favor with the people.
The results of the just concluded bye- elections left ODM scathed.
Out of the 7 mini polls, ODM only won the Kiamokama ward seat in Kisii County.
It also fielded a candidate in Matungu constituency.
In Matungu, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi floored ODM after ANC retained the parliamentary seat.
ANC’s Peter Nabulindo was declared the winner of the hotly contested by-election after garnering 14, 257 votes against ODM’s David Were who received 10, 565 votes.
Alex Lanya of UDA was third with 5, 513 votes with independent Bernard Wakoli coming in fourth with 1, 536 votes.
In Kabuchai, Ford Kenya’s Majimbo Kalasinga bagged the Kabuchai parliamentary seat.
Kalasinga garnered 19,274 votes against his closest rival Evans Kakai of the newly formed UDA who got 6,445 votes.
ODM did not field a candidate.
Jubilee Party and the newly formed United Democratic Alliance (UDA) shared spoils in Nakuru County.
UDA candidate for London Ward Antony Nzuki was declared the winner.
Jubilee Party’s Virginia Wamaitha was declared the winner of Hell’s Gate Ward representative seat.
Nzuki trounced Francis Njoroge of Jubilee after he garnered 1,707 votes against Njoroge’s 1,385.
According to the Standard Newspaper, Wamaitha’s win in Naivasha’s Hell’s Gate race will give Jubilee some hope after she registered 3,863 votes against her closest rival UDA’s Jonathan Warothe who got 2,766.
The loss for Jubilee to the little-known political party that enjoys the backing of Deputy President William Ruto should worry the ruling party because it is an indication that it does not have full control of a region that voted for President Uhuru Kenyatta almost to a man – twice in 2017- the Standard said.
Raila’s only consolation came in Kisii where he only managed to floor Deputy President William Ruto in the battle for the control of the Kisii region after comfortably winning the Kiamokama ward by-election.
The race was billed as a contest pitting Ruto’s allied United Democratic Alliance against Raila’s ODM.
The hotly contested race was won by ODM’s Malack Matara who garnered 1,907 votes against Nyakeramba’s paltry 491 votes.
At the Coast, Raila is having it rough after he publicly said he was opposed to the Coast region having its own political party.
Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi told him off last week saying its wrong for him to say that “Coast Unity” is a threat to National security.
DP William Ruto has also said that he is not opposed to the BBI bill.
As if running his own race, Raila has been cris- crossing the country campaigning for the BBI alone.
Anylsts have praised UDA for putting upo a brave fight.
“DP William Ruto;s UDA is the party to beat in the 2022 elections,” said Amos Kunuthia a political analyst.
