ODM Leader Raila Odinga on Thursday told KANU leader Gideon Moi to soldier on and ignore talk that he is a “dynasty”.
Speaking during a KANU national meeting at the BOMAS Kenya, Raila said the late former President Daniel Moi was not from a dynasty but from a humble background.
He said dynasty is a “Kingdom” and that Kenya isn’t a Kingdom.
Raila said Moi was a herdsman before he became a teacher.
He added that Mzee Jomo Kenyatta was also a poor man whose parents were extremely poor.
“Jaramogi was a water meter reader here in the City. He was not a rich man, and his parents were extremely poor,” he said.
The former Prime Minister said Kenya’s democracy has grown because Kenya has strong political parties like KANU.
“The strength of our democracy is the strength of our political parties,” he said.
During the National Delegates Conference, KANU endorsed Gideon Moi to vie for the presidency in 2022.
The party also adopted the slogan “KANU FRESH”.
