President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked men to respect women.
In an apparent reference to last weeks drama at City Hall when Matopeni MCA Abdi Guyo and a section of Jubilee MCA’s tried to block Speaker Beatrice Elachi from the Assembly, Uhuru asked men not to humiliate women.
“We are all equal. Don’t humiliate women,” Uhuru said.
He was speaking in Mlolongo long Mombasa road when he officially commissioned the Nairobi expressway.
Elachi was impeached last year by City MCA’s and latter reinstated by the Court.
However, MCAs led by Guyo blocked her from accessing the Assembly.
There were running battles last week when Elachi stormed the Assembly to assume her role as the Speaker.
Addressing the Media at City Hall, Elachi said she was infuriated by Guyo’s words that “she should go have sex with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga,”
“He is disrespecting women and I won’t allow that. I will take him head on. That’s disrespect to Raila Odinga and his wife Ida Odinga,” Elachi said.
In an apparent reference to the chaos at City Hall, the President asked Politicians to stop fighting and respect each other.
“Old people should respect young people. The youth should also respect old men,” the President said.
Viwandani MCA David Wambua Mbithi thanked the President for helping Elachi get back to City Hall.
“Mr President please intervene and help us get a solution,” Wambua appealed to Uhuru.
Earlier while making fun of the situation, Uhuru asked Men to seduce women respectfully.
“Respect women, don’t force, if they say no-look for another one,” he said.
