A youth caucus on Tuesday asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack youth affairs CS Margaret Kobia for alleged incompetence.
On its state of the youth nation statement, Generation Tomorrow (G2) Alliance National chairman Obed Mwale, who is also Matisi MCA said the CS has failed to implement policies that would have helped address unemployment among the youth.
He alleged Kobia has mismanaged youth resources and should resign to pave way for appointment of another Kenyan capable of handling youth affairs.
“We demand for the immediate and unconditional resignation of Professor Margret Kobia for mismanagement and youth resources “said Mwale.
He was accompanied by a number of youth leaders from across the country who convened for a meeting before issuing of the statement.
The youth called on President Uhuru to declare unemployment a national disaster and allocate adequate funds to contain the situation.
They said the national Assembly should enact laws that favor the youth.
Mwale said there is need for county Governments to establish a compulsory and paid internship for college, polytechnic and university students.
“In this case, the National Industrial Training Authority should be abolished for not carrying out its role on developing an internship policy for youths. It has jeopardized us” he said.
The National Assembly, according to Mwale should scrap a requirement that youths must have job experiences before being considered for various jobs.
“The Government should also enhance a decent remuneration for the NYS recruits” he said.
