Retired Catholic Priests from Muranga Diocese will soon have a decent place to call home after many years of Service in the Church.
On Friday, at least shs 68,152,777 was raised during the Muranga Catholic Diocese priest house fundraising at Elysian Resort in Runda.
Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi joined ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Narok governor Samuel Tunai, Nyandarua governor Francis Kimemia and various guests during the evening event.
Wanyonyi who is an active member of the Kenya Catholic Members of Parliament Spiritual Support Initiative (CAMPSSI) welcomed the guests.
He commended the Muranga Catholic diocese for fundraising for the retired priests, adding that they deserve a decent retirement Home after many years of service to God.
“I recently read in the Catholic bulletin ‘The Seed’, the plight of retired priests. Most of them retire into poverty and have nowhere to go. This is despite having worked for us. What you are doing is noble and should be emulated by other dioceses,” he said.
The Chief Guest was former vice president Hon Musalia Mudavadi.
The money will be used to construct a house for elderly, sickly and retired priests of the diocese.
Present at the event were Bishop Maria Wainaina of the diocese of Muranga, founder of Equity bank Peter Munga and many other prominent businessmen from Muranga County.
