Tech firm – Tiro Tech has launched taxi cabs to be used upcountry.
The cabs are christened – Tumefika .
Tiro Tech CEO Kenneth Matiba Agufa said there was need to fill the gap left by town- based operators such as Uber and Taxify.
He said those willing to offer their cars to be used for the services are welcome.
If Tiro tech has to employ a driver and cater for the maintenance of the car, the income will be shared equally between Tiro Tech and the owner of the car.
However, if one decides to join Tumefika Cabs and he maintains his own car and drives it, then only 12 percent of the income will go to Tiro Tech.
According to Tiro Tech, the authenticity of the driver will be approved by physical application with the applicant holding an I.D Card, Passport and valid driving license while clients do online registration.
Any vehicle models in good condition and approved by the NTSA and manufactured from 2009 are valid for application.
TUMEFIKA Cabs App is supported by ‘Askari Wangu’ app which ensures security of the driver and the passenger.
When Askari Wangu app is open, an alert message is sent to the nearest police station from the vehicle in danger.
The app automatically shows the location of the vehicle.
The application is linked to the Kenya Red Cross, St.John’s Ambulance and the Kenya Police Service.
“The TUMEFIKA CABS App will be fast, more convenient and accountable and will fit in the current competition. We shall allow debit card, M-Pesa and cash. However we shall unsubscribe inactive drivers after 2 months of inactivity in our system.” Agufa said.
He said that so far, Tiro Tech has over a 100 workers.
“We have a fleet of 20 vehicles and we will give free registration for the first 20 applicants by next week on Friday.” he said.
One can download the Tuemefika app on Google play store.
