Sirisia MP John Waluke will lose his seat if his appeal is rejected by the High Court.
This is after a Nairobi magistrate’s court slapped him with the heavy fine after together with Grace Sarapay Wakhungu, they allegedly swindled NCPB of shs 313 million.
Environment CS Judy Wakhungu’s mother Grace Sarapay Wakhungu was fined shs 707 million or 7 years in jail.
Grace Wakhungu is 79 years old.
According to the Kenyan constitution, an MP loses his seat if he is jailed for more than 6 months.
This means he will lose 8 consecutive sittings in Parliament.
Court documents indicate that former Deputy Chief Justice Nancy Baraza received shs 5 million as legal fees.
Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdulahis law firm reportedly received shs 50 million.
The money was swindled through Soita and Sande advocates.
The two are still in police custody and have a grace period of 14 days to appeal.
The harsh fines were given by magistrate Elizabeth Juma.
