Former Forestry Minister Noah Wekesa has asked Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa to stop early campaigns for 2022 Trans Nzoia governorship.
On Saturday, Wekesa told Wamalwa that early campaigns don’t guarantee him the win.
“In 2013, I had campaigned for three years but Governor Patrick Khaemba campaigned for three weeks and won against me” Wekesa said.
Wekesa asked Wamalwa to seek advice from him if he is serious on succeeding Khaemba.
But Wamalwa told him that during his time, the former minister lacked strategy.
Wamalwa said he has an elaborate strategy which is in place unlike Wekesa who had none.
The two were speaking at Kinyoro in Trans Nzoia County during the burial of Ruth Waswa.
The late Waswa was wife to immediate former area KNUT executive secretary Makhino Waswa.
“Yes, you campaigned for three years but you didn’t set your gears properly, right now I’m on gear two and by the time we finish the race I will be on gear five” Wamalwa told Wekesa.
Wamalwa said he does not fear his opponents and expressed optimism that he will win.
Cabinet secretary Eugene Wamalwa and KNUT secretary General Wilson Session and aspiring Governor Moses Khaoya were present.
Khaoya who unsuccessfully vied for 2017 Governorship said he is also in the race.
Khaoya said that Chris Wamalwa has undermined him t since he only garnered 5,000 votes.
But Khaoya said a “bad beginning makes a good ending” and told Wamalwa that he will defeat him.
“It is true I got few votes, but I’m better because Wamalwa has never vied for the top seat, so he should respect me and get ready for defeat” Khaoya told Hot News after the burial.
Chris Wamalwa has been campaigning for the last one year.
Others on the list to succeed Khaemba are CS Eugene Wamalwa, DP William Ruto’s aides Kakai Bisau and Abraham Sing’oei, Woman rep Janet Nangabo and Andrew Wanyonyi.
