Immediate former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita has said that he will serve Machakos residents diligently once elected Governor.
Waita resigned from State House to plunge to politics.
He told the press in Nairobi that he is focused on ensuring that he bridges the glaring inequalities in the County.
“Machokos County has glaring inequalities. There are areas that are super rich and they include the urban Machokos. The rural Machokos residents live in abject poverty. It is this gap between the poor and the rich that we have the bridge,” he said.
Waita said Machakos is a cosmopolitan County and all residents should be assured of efficient service delivery.
He said the County boosts of many Industries in Mlolongo, Athi River and parts of Kitengela.
“We also have a large rural population that comprises of people who provide labor in these industries. I will ensure that I talk to these industries to have better packages for the workers,” he said.
Nzioka said he has the experience of working in the private sector and the government and will blend the two to ensure the residents benefit from his expertise.
He also added he will encourage investors to build dams and water pans to have enough water for domestic and industrial use.
“The people of Machakos deserve good leadership. As their Son, I promise not to let them down but ensure they develop both economically and socially,” he said
Machakos County has eight constituencies.
They are Masinga, Yatta, Kangundo, Matungulu and Kathiani.
Others are Mavoko, Machakos Town and Mwala.
The County has a total of 40 wards.
