Pressure is mounting on the ODM party to field a candidate from the Kikuyu community for the Kajiado North Parliamentary Seat.
The new dimension is being influenced by the choice of Kikuyu candidates by the top parties; UDA and Jubilee.
Yesterday, Jubilee settled on Parsimei Gitau as its flag bearer after a night long meeting with UDA having picked Onesmus Ngogoyo as its candidate last week.
ODM has five aspirants and although the party is scheduled to hold party primaries on April 20, emergence of a non-Kikuyu as a winner will easily hand victory to either UDA or Jubilee.
The ODM aspirants are so far Dr Solomon Kinyanjui , Andrew Lesopo, George Yogo, Lawrence Mbelati and Samson Moindi
In this scenario, Dr Kinyanjui from Oloolua Ward is prized to be a favorite as he has been a candidate in the area in past elections.
Local political pundits also argue that it is time for another ward to produce the Kajiado North MP, Olkeri Ward having produced former MPs.
Both Ngogoyo (UDA) Gitau (Jubilee) and outgoing MP Joseph Manje, and the late Prof George Saitoti come from Olkeri.
Dr Kinyanjui’s main rival for the ticket is Mr Musangi, but he seems to have a very weak political foundation despite being a brother to the late Professor Saitoti.
Out of the aspirants, Dr Kinyanjui has emerged as the biggest mobiliser and is said to be generous to voters.
His event management equipment has also come in handy to overshadow his competitors on the campaign trail.
