Busia Governor Sospeter Ojamong has reached out to all community elders in Busia County.
The elder’s in-turn pledged to work with him.
Ojaamong is their patron and he said he is out to unite all communities in the county.
Addressing the press after meeting the Governor, the Council chairman, George Wesonga said they will not engage in politics but focus on development.
He thanked the governor for accepting to give them a fully furnished office where they will be operating from.
The county government will also facilitate their operations.
The Elders urged the governor to involve them in all county development plans; they also pledged to visit learning institutions to talk to the youth so as to instill discipline in them.
The Governor said he appreciates the role the elders are playing in nurturing the youth.
“As a County Government we value the elders in the County; we shall move with them in realizing their socio-economic goals,” he said.
He added that his Government has started by availing an office to the elders to operate from.
He told the elders to encourage their children to seek political seats irrespective of their marital status.
