Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi and his Tongaren counterpart Eseli Simiyu have asked “former” party leader Moses Wetang’ula to accept his ouster and move on.
On May 31, a special NEC meeting approved the removal of Wetang’ula and replaced him with Wamunyinyi before the matter was taken to court.
On Sunday while addressing a teacher’s gathering at Kitale school, the duo asked the Bungoma Senator to stop thinking he will be reinstated.
Eseli said the move to overthrow Wetang’ula was timely and genuine and that he should accept and move on.
He said when he was the party leader, Wetang’ula wanted Western Kenya to remain in the opposition in 2022.
“In 2022, we must be in the Government, Wetang’ula wanted us to remain in opposition in 2022, he lacks reform credentials, he should thank God for years he led the party “added Eseli.
Wamunyinyi told party supporters that the conservatory orders by the court did not reinstate Wetang’ula as the party leader.
“The far the former party leader can go is when the conservatory orders expire, he should take advantage of this and that will be his end” Wamunyinyi said.
He said Wetang’ula was dismissed by the National NEC for serious gross misconduct.
“Wetang’ula was dismissed by NEC for serious gross misconduct, if Musikari Kombo was toppled and accepted, what about Wetang’ula who was fired by NEC for making the party his personal property” posed Wamunyinyi.
“When some of us were fighting for the second liberation of this nation through Ford Kenya, you were chewing goodies with the late President Moi in KANU, Kindly remove the jam to enable the party to grow” Wamunyinyi told Wetangula.
