National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has rubbished the recent changes in the Jubilee Party.
Speaking to Hot News, the Garissa Town MP said the Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju did not comply with the law while making changes in the Party.
“I am a member of the Jubilee Party National Executive Committee (NEC). No meeting has been called but if they did and had a quorum that is ok. The Party must comply with the law and Raphael Tuju has no choice but to follow the law,” Duale said.
In a Gazette notice dated April 6, the registrar of Political Parties announced that Jubilee intended to change members of the National Management Committee , who would be replaced by Lucy Nyawira Macharia, Professor Marete Marangu , Walter Nyambati , Jane Nampsao and James Waweru.
They have replaced Fatuma Shukri, Pamela Mutua and Veronica Maina from the National Management Committee.
The Committee is responsible for the day to day affairs of the Party.
The move has angered several of DP William Ruto’s supporters who feel President Uhuru Kenyatta has wrestled control of the Party from them by ensuring his cronies are appointed to the Party top positions.
Last week, DP Ruto termed the changes as fraudulent.
DP William Ruto and his cronies have fallen out with President Uhuru Kenyatta after Kenyatta shook hands with Opposition leader Raila Odinga claiming to be “healing the Country”.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has been sidelining DP Ruto of late.
However, Ruto seems to be gaining popularity especially with the rural folks who sympathize with his current predicaments.
Ruto’s supporters want him to form his own Party ahead of 2022.
