After falling out with Governor Mike Sonko, trying in vain to eject Speaker Beatrice Elachi from City Hall, former Majority leader Abdi Guyo has finally thrown in the towel.
Guyo now remains Matopeni MCA.
He has been replaced as Majority Leader by the Jubilee Party.
Matopeni is in Embakasi Central constituency.
Speaking at City Hall during the plenary session, Majority Whip June Ndegwa told MCAs that Guyo had sent congratulatory messages to the new leadership.
Guyo had declined to vacate office after he was dethroned as the Majority leader and a member of the Nairobi City County Assembly Service Board.
The New Majority leader Charles Thuo also said Guyo had given in and congratulated him.
On Monday, City MCAs clashed with Police at City hall after pro-Elachi MCAs attempted to eject Guyo from the office of the Majority leader.
A week ago- Jubilee MCAs voted Guyo out and replaced him with Dandora ii MCA Charles Thuo.
Nominated MCA June Ngegwa replaced Chege Waithera as Chief Whip.
On Tuesday, Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju wrote to Speaker Beatrice Elachi saying the Party had received a letter from Governor Mike Sonko and the Majority Whip June Ndegwa on the leadership change at Nairobi City County Assembly.
Tuju said there is need to end wrangles at the Assembly.
During the plenary session, Kayole Central MCA Jeremiah Karani said they have to work with Speaker Beatrice Elachi.
Nominated MCA Doris Kanario congratulated the new leadership and invited all the MCAs for prayers on Wednesday in the Morning.
Imara Daima Ward rep Ken Obuya condemned the Tuesday fracas at the Assembly where Guyo allegedly “sprayed pepper” in the eyes of MCAs.
The furious MCAs who were sprayed with pepper allegedly threw back a teargas canister in the office where he wanted to address the media.
