ODM leader Raila Odinga has told the residents of Kibra to vote for Imran Okoth and protect “their bedroom from strangers”.
Speaking at old Kibra Primary School after voting, Raila told residents that “we are in our own bedroom. Protect our bedroom from strangers and outsiders,”
Raila condemned voter bribery which he said was rife in Kibra.
He said its wrong to bribe voters since that was undermining corruption.
“Its not about money. That’s corruption. We don’t want to corrupt a democratic process,” Raila said.
He urged the residents to remain peaceful and ensure they come out in large numbers and vote.
Earlier in the morning, two people were arrested for allegedly bribing voters at two polling stations.
The two, a man and a woman, were arrested separately on Thursday at YMCA polling station and Old Kibra Primary school.
However, there was low turnout in the Morning as few people turned out to vote.
At NCC Hall in Dagoreti Corner, only 40 people out of 1300 registered at the polling station had voted.
“May be at 4pm they will come and vote after leaving work. However, very few people have turned up”. Said Nicholas Mutua the presiding officer at NCC hall.
