“Deep State” and men perceived to be close to President Uhuru Kenyatta are working day and night to ensure DP William Ruto does not become President in 2022.
Jubilee Vice Chair and former Gatanga MP David Murathe told Citizen TV on Tuesday night.
Murathe said when asked about the Ildamat meetings at COTU boss Francis Atwolis home that those perceived to be the president’s men will ensure a “favorable” person succeeds President Uhuru.
“We don’t know who the President will be, but we are working hard to ensure William Ruto is not the President” Murathe told the Nation.
Murathe said DP Ruto behaved well when they joined hands with Uhuru’s camp, but latter changed and became “ill mannered,”
He accused Ruto of being in such a hurry to inherit the President by starting early campaigns.
“How do you finish the race without the baton?” Murathe posed
“Ruto is not the right candidate to succeed Uhuru because of the way he has behaved. He took over Adrian Muteshi’s land in Eldoret, he is dogged by the Weston Hotel land saga. When you are number 2 and you behave this way, what of if you become number 1,” he posed.
Murathe said Kenyans need to expand the executive to end the mentality of winner takes it all.
“Let people feel included. When people feel included, they will not talk about secession,” he said.
He said if the constitution is changed and several other positions are created, that does not prevent President Uhuru from going for one.
However, he added that when Uhuru retires, he will retire with his close allies and confidants.
“The Presidents’ men will go home with him,” Murathe said.
