Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi have begun a series of tours of Western Kenya to woo the residents to support them.
The duo held their first meeting in Trans Nzoia County at the home of Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa in Kananachi.
They told the residents they will remain united and cooperate to form the next government.
Mudavadi said he will resist any attempts to join the current government saying it is “too late”.
“Let me be realistic and tell you the truth. In 2002, I was picked as the Vice President and only served for three months. It was a very short time and I could not offer any development to our people. So, it’s too late for me or any other person from Western to join the current government” said Mudavadi.
He said the government is broke and can only sustain payment of salaries but cannot carry out any development.
He condemned those plotting to oust Wetang’ula from Ford Kenya and himself from ANC.
Wetang’ula chided five Governors who recently met President Kenyatta and only asked for a 32-seater bus instead of asking him to ensure the economic status of Western Kenya improves.
The bus was given to Nzoia Sugar Company football team.
Governors Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Wilberforce Otichilo(Vihiga), Patrick Khaemba (Trans Nzoia), Wycliffe Wangamati (Bungoma) and Busia’s Sospeter Ojamong recently met the President at Harambee House.
“I think after meeting the five Governors, President Uhuru slept a happy man since the five didn’t pressurize him on development. The governors failed and wasted such a lucrative chance,” Wetang’ula added.
The Senator said they should have pushed the President to help in reviving collapsed industries, construct new roads among other key developments.
Present were Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa (host),Lugari’s Ayub Savula, Ferdinand Wanyonyi (Kwanza),Titus Khamala(Lurambi),Alfred Agoi(Sabatia) and Tindi Mwale of Butere.
Others were Fred Kapondi(Mount Elgon),Sakwa Bunyasi(Busia),James Mukwe(Kabuchai),Janet Nangabo (Trans Nzoia), Beatrice Adagala(Vihiga) and Catherine Wambilianga (Bungoma)
“We will all follow the direction that our two leaders will tell us ” Chris Wamalwa said.
Wamalwa also took the chance to ask Trans Nzoia residents to consider him for Governor in 2022.
Savula said the group will organize the same meetings in Kakamega,Busia, Bungoma, and Vihiga Counties.
He said the move is aimed at uniting Western Kenya.
He asked CS Eugene Wamalwa to stick to his cabinet role and stop politicking.
