The County Government of Nairobi has issued shs 505 million bursaries to school children.
Deputy Governor Anne Kananu on Tuesday launched the Executive and Ward bursaries.
The money includes executive scholarship funds of sh 207 million and ward development cash of sh 297 million.
The beneficiaries will include Primary, Secondary, and students in Vocational training institutions.
The 85 wards will each get sh 3.5 million.
Kananu said the funds will be transferred directly to school bank accounts to ensure accountability and transparency.
“By taking some financial pressure off vulnerable parents, Nairobi County government will ensure greater success in secondary education by helping deserving students attain quality education,” Kananu said.
Nairobi City County Assembly Speaker Benson Mutura said those who will misappropriate the bursary funds will be arrested and prosecuted.
