A former Journalist at the Nation Media Group Samuel Omoll alias Torez is ready to join politics as an MCA for Lucky Summer, in Ruaraka constituency.
He said through a Community Based Organization he formed six years ago, he got an opportunity to interact with residents and has understood their day today challenges in life.
The CBO is dubbed Mng’aro Mtaani.
The Journalist told Hot News he started by dressing the poor in Korogocho slum by encouraging people to donate old clothes and shoes which his organization distributed to the needy.
“I was brought up under difficult circumstances in Korogocho and I know people judge you from your dressing.” said the 35-year-old orphan.
Omoll said Mng’aro Mtaani has been advocating for youth empowerment through innovation to create jobs as well as fighting drugs and illicit brews.
“We have traversed the country talking to the youth on the need to be innovative, stop crime and drug abuse.” He said.
The Journalist said 24 slums in Nairobi and seven other counties have benefited from the CBO.
” I believe in humanity and development.” he said.
On leadership, he said the best approach is to listen to what the people want.
“It is wrong to cheat the voters using a manifesto that is only sweet theoretically and will never be actualized. Take note of what they think is better for them and deliver.” Omoll said.
