Five girls from Chetoto Primary school in Kitale municipality, Saboti constituency were unable to reopen school after falling pregnant.
According to the school headteacher Samson Njenga, the pupils are between class 6 and class 8.
Speaking to the press at the school on Monday, Njenga said this is due to the long holiday occasioned by the Covid-19.
“We will however not discriminate against the pupils. We will allow them back to school after delivery. This is because the ministry of education guidelines does not bar them from coming back to school “Njenga said.
He said the school has set aside a guiding and counselling department consisting of female teachers who will counsel the pupils.
A section of the school-girl’s toilets was destroyed by heavy rains last year.
The schools 300 girls lack a place to relieve themselves.
He urged the government and well-wishers to intervene and ensure the toilets are constructed.
