Veteran Journalist Reuben Olita was unanimously elected the new Secretary General of the Football Kenya Federation Busia branch.
The elections took place at the Busia County Commissioner’s Hall.
The federation amended its constitution to replace regions with counties to be new branches.
A total of 18 counties held the elections on Saturday with 29 individuals elected as Secretary Generals unopposed.
All eleven delegates out of 13 who were cleared to participate in the polls voted for the secretary and treasurer.
The Chairman garnered 10 votes with one spoilt vote, thus setting the stage for Team Blue to run the affairs of the game in the county for the next four years.
The elections were presided over by Richard Opeywa and Micky Oloo from FKF Electoral Board.
Olita, who works with Busia Governor’s Press, had stints with the Standard, Daily Nation, Kenya Times, Uganda’s New Vision and The Star newspaper.
He pledged to turn around the fortunes of the game in the County.
Chairman-elect Hillary Musundi in his victory speech said his new team will encourage county/grassroots leagues, build youth teams, women football, training of referees and partner with stakeholders.
Musundi asked schools and colleges to take football seriously.
William Musundi, the immediate former Secretary of FKF Busia Sub- Branch was elected the chairman.
Bernard Mango is the new vice-chairman and Bernard Onyango is the treasurer elect.
The delegates who voted included Evans Omondi (Busia Olympic), Olaka Olaka (Matayos Commando), Bonface Bukeke (Bwamani Vipers), Salim Suleiman ( Nambale United), Hebert Sanya ( Lakeview), Timothy Wabwire (Nasewa), Omonya Bernard ( Boca Juniors), Milton Barasa (Kekalet), Okumu Seraphine (Samia United) and Thomas Opanyi (Newspider).
Ronny Oyando of Bilombe FC and Ali Hassan Okumu of Busia Wolves did not vote.
William Musumba- Team white including Victor Ngosia as running mate, Mathew Ekirapa (Secretary General) and Anne Otiti (treasurer) were whitewashed with none of them getting a single vote.
A delegate, Daniel Ouma exuded confidence that the new team will take soccer to greater heights, noting that the era of soccer brokerage has ended.
